Updated RSA Rules of Association 2024

16 minutes ago by Bjorn

The committee have reviewed and approved the Rules of Association to bring about ammendments in respect of the following:

• Membership applications.  Full members requirement to have nominees from outside of their own organisation (para 12) and requirement of Juniors to confirm RICS membership number/enrolment onto course (para 29(3)).  We require nominees to have paid their subscription and this does now appear in the rules (paras 12, 21, 28)

• Code of Conduct/VOA agent standards.  To reflect the updated code and VOA agent standards these are now included in the Code of Conduct section (paras 3, 4 and 7 to the Schedule).

• To allow an additional eighth co-opted committee member para 66(8) has been amended. This will now enable us to appoint a co-opted member to represent the RICS Diploma Holders Section, to assist with informing the committee of legal and other technical changes to rating law and practice

• To reflect a requirement for a valid nomination to fill a vacancy on the committee in any particular year needing to include confirmation that no other person from the same firm or organisation is seeking nomination in that same year (para 71 (4))

• A few other, minor formatting and grammatical changes (e.g. para 72)

The committee has unanimously accepted the revisions and a General Meeting of the Association implemented the changes at the OGM on the 21st of November 2024. Should you have any comments please direct these in the first instance to our President, Richard Williamson (richard.williamson@glhearn.com) and Tim Johnson (tim.johnson@cbre.com)
